let's all help in any which way that we can! no matter how big or small... let's all help out our fellow Filipinos!!

HAVE YOU VOLUNTEERED LATELY??

"NOBODY CAN DO EVERYTHING.. BUT EVERYBODY CAN DO SOMETHING.."

kaka-inspire...

My friend, Divine Lee, has been heading some relief operations on her own for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy... I'm so proud to have a friend like her. right when the floods were happening, she was planning out how to help out with the aftermath already.

read one of her entries below and be inspired...

Our magical Payatas adventure

"Yesterday (September 27, 2009), we helped at the relief center and were able to pack 4 truckloads of goods. But today, we wanted to be on the front lines.

Our day started with a lot of tweets, calls, and texts. We gathered all the goods from among ourselves and from those that donated to LUCA branches. The tweets, retweets, facebook status updates really helped! I was so shocked to see the number of relief goods dropped off at our branches! Our shop was overflowing!

We were coordinating with Angel Locsin who set up a relief drive 2 buildings away from our GA SKY SUITES showroom. We all planned to go to Payatas for distribution. I wanted to go to Marikina today but after seeing Angel's text, I decided Payatas it is! She truly is an Angel!

Angels' text about payatas "....Kawawa yung mga biktima dito na never nakatikim nang maginhawang buhay. Wala silang 2nd floor na matungtungan. Estimated 50 ang patay, pero hindi sila mabibigyan nang pansin"

So we were able to gather the goods at the showroom by 12:30. Some of our friends were already there when we arrived. People from GA (Florence, Theresa, Merla, Mj, Chubby,Rocky, Vanessa and Donny) were in full force; designers such as Martin Bautista and Veejay Floresca, Ino Caluza were there; Stylist Shahani Gania and Pam Quinones; Embassy DJ Mars Miranda; Supreme/LUCA director David Milan; Our Doctor Khaz; Architects Ric Matic, Yong Lansigan, Jay Lumbuan; Saga peeps Mia and Elmer; and sugar artist Olive Chan. Whew... what a list!!

So here comes the magical part. Since we all finished packing quite late, Angel's group went ahead. We were able to fill 4 SUVS with relief goods. And i mean PACKED: just the driver, the goods, and no passengers. We made our way to Payatas but since we were such a long convoy of some 7 cars, we lost some of the others along the way. Anyways, while we were trying to look for Angel's location, the way going there showed us the devastation that Typhoon Ondoy wrought. You could already see how so many people's houses were destroyed, and how everything was just so muddy. Even the people walking had mud all over them. The roads were tiny and we got lost trying to maneuver from one point to the next. We ended up at one of the basketball courts that had already been converted into a relief center. I went down to check if we could distribute any goods or if we had finally found where Angel and the rest were. They weren't there. All that i saw was the basketball court divided into 2 sides: left side were for those that had lost their homes, and right side were for those that had lost their lives. There were dead bodies right in front of me. I decided that I wanted to help but i wouldn't have been able to stop the tears flowing from my eyes had we continued.

With nowhere to go, i just told my group to go straight but the roads started to get narrower until we couldn't pass anymore. So we saw an open area: a gate with a ramp that led upwards. We decided we we could enter the gate and make our u-turn. Upon entering the gate, we realized it was a small compound of houses. Then, off to our right, we saw a few people unloading some boxes. I went down to ask if they were Angel's group but they said no. Then i asked if they were distributing goods. They said yes but they had just run out of food.... SERENDIPITY. We had 4 vans of goods. We decided right then that we were going to stay and join forces. In 30 minutes, everyone was moving. Clothes packages, food packages and with no instructions, everyone knew where to go and what to do! The people we met there coordinated with the barangays and within 30 mins, they were able to gather the victims of the flood. This was not the riot type of gathering - everyone was so nice, polite, and orderly. They even had stubs ready so that they could claim their goods. Organized in a matter of minutes! We saw the line go from short to endless... we were scared that we might run out of food and clothes to give. But just like the 7 loaves of Jesus, we were able to give everyone. It was so magical... Just when the line looks endless, the supplies seemed endless as well. We gave away a total of 800 packages more or less. 800 families! Can you imagine?

And while we were giving away goods, someone was about to give birth! Unbelievably, one of our friends was a doctor! See? Another magical moment. No, she didn't give birth, after all. But he assisted her the whole time.

To top it all off, before we left, we heard the most magical thing. The area where we stayed was nicknamed NOAH's Ark. It became the the safe refuge for the whole immediate area, as it was the highest point in the vicinity. The place wasn't big, only about 1000 sqm. So it looked like an island during the storm. It was just so magical that we ended up there, considering the place was pretty hard to find. You wouldn't have thought it was a compound but rather, just the gate for someone's house.

Before we left, we said our goodbyes and promised to come back and to never forget our experience. We may have lost Angel trying to find the original relief center, but you know what? All the angels i'd ever need were already with me... my friends. While we were all close to tears and saying our goodbyes, one "lola" asked me again... is your name really "divine lee", as in the word "divinely" ? They thought it was a joke. No, my name really is divine lee. And this place really is Noah's ark... for them and us alike. :)"

u are really divine, Divine!!!!

P.s.
If you want to donate goods for Divine's relief drive, please send old clothes, etc to LUCA store in Eastwood mall, Shangri-La or Rockwell..thanks!

RZ

i ADORE Rachel Zoe's style. Watching her show The Rachel Zoe Project never fails to make me wana just run to my closet and create outfits to wear. I'd kill for a closet like hers though. Plus she's so thin i love it. I know i'll never be that thin though. haha.. Last year, whenever I needed to create outfits for the show i was doing, i'd just watch an episode and i'd get so riled up and create countless of outfits to bring on the set. I even end up bringing more than required! She just inspires me so much!! Ofcourse i still interject it with my personal style, but still. i believe that my style is largely influenced by her (among my other style idols)...

How about you? Who's style do you look up to? :)

all's well that ends well

i stand my ground that i did not do the things that she claimed i did to her, but i do admit i still wasnt the nicest person to her either. we both had our faults and we 're both sorry. so, all's well that ends well.

when i approached her last june, though it was a showbiz event, i really made sure that there would be no cameras or whatsoever.. because i didnt want it o look like a publicity stunt. i sincerely wanted peace. i felt like, before i turned a year older, i should have peace in my heart and in my mind. true enough, after our encounter, i did feel much lighter and better..

Last Thursday, when we had a meet & greet sort of thing in Summit, as we made beso, alot of people thought that we only made up that day...so i had to clarify that it was a long time ago pa... i just didnt announce it to the world. coz just like in the Bible, the person who was just mum was the one who was realy sincerely praying rather than the person who made sure that the people knew he was.

p.s.
as for the allegations that "someone" made me do it. no. i went up to her by my own free will. it wasnt for anybody but myself. thankyouverymuch.

tindera lang :)

i have been wanting to get rid of some clothes and shoes for the longest time, and despite joining some celebrity bazaars, some stuff -- i just cant seem to really bring with me to sell. maybe because i didnt want to lug around 10 pairs of shoes, when i am unsure if anyone would buy it anyway.

but then, the other day, when I was asked by my good friend Chynna if i wanted to sell some of my old clothes thru her multiply site, i said YES :) and i'm so happy because now, i would get to sell not just old clothes, but shoes as well..

so, my dear friends, starting Friday, SEPT 18, http://stellar01.multiply.com will be selling some of my old clothes and shoes in cheap, cheap prices :)

dont worry, this is just the first batch though, i'm planning to add more items after a week or 2 :)

it's a celebrity online bazaar for everyone! yey!

aside from Chynna & myself, Ryza Cenon, LJ Reyes, Carla Humphries & Phoemela Baranda are going to be selling their stuff there too :)

happy shopping!!

a friend just told me...

Carry yourself in such a way that when people are sitting, you would be STANDING.

And when they are standing, you will STAND OUT;

and when they stand out, you'll be OUTSTANDING;

and when they dare to be outstanding, you will be their STANDARD. :)

Planet: Philippines

Chard, thanks so much for making me part of this... :)

as part of his advocacy with Greenpeace, and his new documentary Planet:Philippines, Chard, ate Ruffa, Carla, Ynna, Ehra, Michelle, Ana, Tj & I, with the rest of our PA's and people from GMA's News and Public Affairs team went to Montalban, Rizal to plant trees and help Mother Nature.

It took more than an hour to climb the mountain but it was all sooo worth it. it was tiring, fulfilling and fun all at the same time.... And and i guess its coz I did it with the people who I consider as my 2nd family :)

i hope we can all be more aware with Mother Nature and how we can help decrease the cause of Global Warming, and help erase our carbon footprints to help create a better world for the future generation by watching Chard's new show every Sunday... let us all open our eyes to the beauty of the Philippines and how we can help preserve it.

in the meantime, here are some pictures from our tree planting adventure :)

Gossip Girls - all we did was eat chips, tweet and gossip on the way to Montalban, Rizal. hahaha

shades: check. sunblock: check. cap: check. sneakers: check. all ready to go trekking up a mountain :)
to think it was mostly girls save for Chard & TJ!! :)

after more than an hour of roadtrip, we all had to ride the 4x4 pick up before trekking over to the site..
we're all geared up and ready! :)
(not in pic: tj)

people may think i'm prissy, but i honestly didnt mind not wearing any gloves at all as i planted trees trees and more trees and held the soil with my bare hands... we all got down and dirty all right, and it was ALL SO WORTH IT. :)

Ynna showing off her soiled hands.. :)

Ehra was enjoying planting trees too! :)

we were obviously having a good time...
about to take a group pic in between tree planting with my Royale Era brothers and sisters :)

incidentally, the first tree that Chard planted was called the Mulawin tree :)

here's Chard, Me & Ynna with our baby trees ...

again... PLANET : PHILIPPINES ,
this Sunday, SEPT 6
10:30 PM on GMA 7's SNBO
hosted by Richard Gutierrez :)
